Have you ever been told as designer you must visit Copenhagen at least once ?
"Hans J. Wegner, Kaare Klint, Jacob Jensen
Minimal shape, green transformation, sustainable solution, a chance for survival"
Merely have heard the words and question above, my itching to learn more about Copenhagen has started before embarking on the design adventure, seemingly we have to celebrate our new year in Denmark! I had an amazing experiences due to visiting Designmuseum Denmark, Copenhagen since last year in the end of 2019, December which was a lowest temperature of the year, this design museum offers a study for free tickets in any case for supports the education. Designmuseum Denmark offers displays of decorative art, craft, especially for the students who was study about product design, household items, architecture, porcelain, furniture and textiles which is contains history and trends for Danish designs from mostly the 20th and 21st centuries.
Not only Danish design has been displayed, but international works are also mentioned. Especially to show the influence on later developments of classical ideas and exclusively dedicated to industrial design and applied arts. including Alessi well-known juicy squeezer a distinctive elongated form of the squeezer based on the shape of a squid (some said a shape seemingly like alien things, buy anyways still make us astounding), and a set of cutlery appeared in the iconic scene of Dining scene / 2001: A Space Odyssey by Stanley Kubrick's. This set of cutlery selected for its futuristic outcomes designed by Arne Jacobson a Danish designer.
"THE CHAIR IS THE PIECE OF FURNITURE THAT IS CLOSEST TO HUMAN BEINGS. YOU CAN GIVE IT THE PERSONAL TOUCH."
− Hans J. Wegner.
Considering sustainability design, we've heard many times about eco trends, the Fairtrade phenomenon in Danish design has occurred means designer and craft makers engaged to eco development procedure. As noticed this mentioning policy is capable of undergoing from entrepreneur to individual designer, and when design industry generated eco design and sustainable in return environmental awareness gains to their own community.
Me and friend (the girl in a cover) was here because we'd seen a pleasant Danish's chair display calls
“The Danish chair – an international affair.”
by Christian Holmsted Olesen, the new context of the permanent exhibition of the Designmuseum Danmark dedicated to chairs. an emphasis on the golden age of Danish furniture design during 1920-1970 period of time.
The exhibition contains more than 100 chairs as a tunnel in each of window display shows the individual and we can get the information for particular chairs by pull a drawer 's board, it revealed a history, sizing, designer for the individual chairs. I was told one of the best design's proportion for an ordinary chairs is Danish's design it could be easy for us to design a magnificent chairs but a practical and functional is hard. Through a tunnel display there's a collection of Danish chairs renowned around the world for their beautiful and functional chairs.
As Ludwig Mies van der Rohe saids
“ THE CHAIR IS A VERY DIFFICULT OBJECT. — EVERYONE WHO HAS EVER TRIED TO MAKE ONE KNOWS THAT. THERE ARE ENDLESS POSSIBILITIES AND MANY PROBLEMS — THE CHAIR HAS TO BE LIGHT, IT HAS TO BE STRONG, IT HAS TO BE COMFORTABLE. IT IS ALMOST EASIER TO BUILD A SKYSCRAPER THAN A CHAIR.”
Exactly, "The chair is the closest thing to a human being you can give a personal expression" but convey thankfulness to Danish achieved a sophisticated design into a minimal shape plus it's efficiency function. As I holds motto
"Designer may genuinely revealed their empathy in the details for their user."
